Project 1
Upcycling Gavin
Gavin was actually my first passion project.
I had no intention of selling him, it was love.
I also had no intention of putting him on a website, so I took bugger all pictures of the process.
One of the joys of upcycling old furniture is watching them gradually come back to life, and at your hands!
Usually my hands are breaking things or dropping them (which often ends up in the breaking of them).
Being productive while making something beautiful is one of my favourite things to do, for my bank balance and my brain.
One of the sarcastic joys of upcycling old furniture is that it can be a bit tricky – finding the right fittings, removing the current fittings, fixing legs that were completely facked but the you didn’t pay attention when you bought him.
That’s another (genuinely) great thing: it’s the perfect learn on the job job.
Each project I undertake I learn a new skill or finishing product.
Sadly for Gavin, our love was not to last.
I soon met Gerry, and we are still together today.
Gavin, you will always have a place in my heart, just not my house.
